#CostumeFiles – Moondance Shoes

As a showgirl, we do what we can to make everything sparkle. This also sometimes gets brought down to the shoes. For me, I was insanely bored of just the basic and traditional rhinestone of shoes. Yes, we get to see beautiful dimension when we use large and small stones, and even shapes. I wanted to beyond traditional, and I also saw an opportunity to bring down the theme of draping all the way down to the shoe, so I did!

Step 1: First I used an awl to poke a hole in the side of the shoe.

Step2: Second I used a small key ring and brought it through the hole.

Step 3: Third I then made small necklaces of matching beads from the headdress and arm draping to adorn the shoes.

Step 4: Lastly, I followed the concepts of rhinstoning the heel and the platform.

I don’t know if I will be moving forward with adding additional stones as time goes on, but for now… the result was a delightful difference of shoe art!

Showgirl Tip: Remember, it is ideal to finish the concept down to the feet. Forgetting what you have on your feet (bare or heeled) you are almost forgetting your jewelry. Don’t be afraid to experiment with shoe clips, stones, and even beading! Get creative!
